Description:
This tour can start in the early morning or in the early afternoon and ends invariably with a meal in the La Mandera farmhouse in Rocca di Cave or in the notorious restaurant Sora Maria&Arcangelo in Olevano Romano. The goal of this tour is to provide our guests with an overview of the territory, a vision that is both cultural and morphological at the same time.
We firmly believe that knowing how to place yourself exactly within an important context such as the Italian one can only improve the experience of staying in San Gregorio da Sassola, increasing the knowledge of the context and the customer's personal gratification. We’ll first take the steep road that leads from Casape to Guadagnolo (5 km, elevation gain 800 metres) getting us straight to the ridge of the Prenestini mountains. Once at the top we will visit the village of Guadagnolo, the highest inhabited center in the Lazio region. The village stands at an altitude of 1218 meters and enjoys a view that embraces the entire province of Rome as far as the sea on one side and the Apennine chain on the other.
From Guadagnolo we will go down to Capranica Prenestina, we will take a quick walk in the characteristic historic center of the town admiring Bramante's dome and get back in the car we will head to Genazzano, perhaps the most beautiful town in the area, with its castle, the Nymphaeum of Bramante and the number of frescoed churches.
Dining
From Genazzano we will go for lunch (or dinner) or to Mandera Farmhouse in Rocca di Cave or to Sora Maria&Arcangelo in Olevano, both good examples (with varying levels of Ambiance & price point) of authentic cuisine. Dining will convivially conclude this tour of ‘getting to know the area’.

In both cases, we will return to San Gregorio via Ciciliano-Tivoli thus describing a perfect ring of 120/130 km around the Prenestini Mountains. Ring that will allow us to have an idea of the territory as a whole.
